Garlic, Parmesan Kale Chips

If you want to increase the amount of nutrients in your diet, you may want to consider loading up on kale. Kale is among the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and containing very little fat. Enjoying it as a snack food, drizzled in avocado oil and seasoned with parmesan, garlic powder, sea salt and pepper, and baked until crispy, makes for a great crunchy, delicious, super healthy snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch kale

  • Avocado oil

  • 2 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Sea salt & black pepper, to season

Directions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 200C, OR for oven cooking to 110C.

  2. Wash and dry the kale, then remove the stems and tear the kale into small pieces.

  3. Place the kale into a large mixing bowl and drizzle with oil, parmesan, garlic, salt and pepper. Using hands, toss to combine, distributing the oil and seasoning evenly.

  4. For air fryer cooking: spread the kale evenly in the basket, ensuring the kale touches as little as possible to help them crisp while baking (you may need to do two batches). Bake for 3-5 minutes, turning the chips halfway through to ensure even baking.

  5. For oven cooking: spread the kale evenly over a large baking sheet, ensuring the kale touches as little as possible. Bake for 15 minutes, turning the chips halfway through to ensure even baking.

  6. Remove from the air fryer/oven when the kale is crispy and very slighltly golden brown, keeping an eye on them as they can burn easily. Allow to cool slightly.

  7. The are best enjoyed fresh, served immediately, however you can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days.
